Route 66 marathon

This was the fifth marathon I ran. The course was mainly flat and went through the best of the city of Tulsa: its picturesque downtown, distinctive neighborhoods, and university campus. It offered a unique challenge to run an extra 0.3 miles to complete the world’s shortest ultra for a total of 26.5 miles. It consisted of taking a detour towards a special part of downtown called “The Center of the Universe” near the finish line and pick up a medallion. Although my legs were quite heavy, as I approached this part of the course I decided to go for the additional short stretch.
