Jack & Jill’s downhill marathon

This was the third marathon I ran in 2024 and it was much different than any others I have ran before. It was a point-to-point course with a gradual 2,025 feet of net descent. Rather than road, the surface was a hard-packed gravel and dirt old rail road trail. Also, shortly after the start runners passed through the pitch-dark Snoqualmie Tunnel for about two miles; therefore, a flashlight or headlamp was required. Running in the mountains, surrounded by beautiful nature and only a small number of spectators on the sides, was a serene and wholesome experience.
